Nurse the Third, Skip the Forth, Plead the Fifth.

We had the pleasure of attending the Good Idea Salon, a campaign initiative from PSFK.*
The Good Idea Salons are “a campaign of positivity in a time when we need a little.” This panel discussion focused on Good Ideas in Social Media and one of the panelists was David Art Wales, founder of Ministry of Culture. They are a research, strategy and content firm based out of NYC. He is currently working pro-bono to revive Prudent Boozers, a marketing initiative originally from 1882 which urges boozers around the world to adopt the practice of “Nursing the Third”, aka slow down the drinkin and skip the 4th! This was an ancient Welsh temperance movement started by Henry Nurse III. (Hence the term “nursing” a beer!).

During the panel discussion Wales handed out Prudent Boozer membership cards to everyone in attendance and urged us all to attain the four ideals of dignity, clarity, pleasure & charm…and to Nurse the Third. So instead of completely knocking out booze for your New Years Resolution, perhaps just keep it modest and become a Prudent Boozer.
